COVID-19 Vaccination programme update.

Posted on June 16th, 2021

The Huntingdon GP Primary Care Network, of which Acorn Surgery is a member, is proud to have been involved in the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine to our patients as part of the joint clinics run at the Hicks Centre in Huntingdon over the past 6 months. Although the Government has extended the vaccine programme, and as there are numerous other Covid vaccine sites now available to patients, we are not continuing with the Covid vaccinations. Any of our patients who are awaiting their first dose can organise this through the National Booking Service to book an appointment at one of the local Vaccination Centres or Pharmacy sites via http://nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119. Patients who have had their first dose but haven’t yet had their second can also book this way. It’s recommended that you have your second dose between 8 and 12 weeks but if it has been longer than this you are still encouraged to have the jab for maximum protection against the virus.

For people under 40, it’s currently advisable not to have the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine but to be offered an alternative. You can find out further information in the latest patient information leaflet.

The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective and protects you and those around you. It’s the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history and has already saved thousands of lives by preventing the spread of Covid-19.
